What a great year 2010 will be!  See ya 2009!

As it is possible that Santa forgot a few important things on your list, and you were really good, sort of, would it be acceptable to purchase a few books just for oneself?

I'm starting my New Year's Day by reading, slowly, More is More, a gigantic & luscious tome about the fabulous Tony Duquette.  And I'll be eating black eyed peas.

And if I finish that book (unlikely as I won't want to stop looking at the fantastic pictures)  I will start the intriguing Far Out, a series of beautiful photos of deep outer space that are simply mind blowing

Finally, just so I can continue the New Year with a clear head and a good conscience, I will study Hugh Johnson's Pocket Guide to Wine 2010.  That would be so that 2009 will look like a dim, blurry memory defined by the amnesia of great, exuberant revelry, health, wealth and  happiness.  For Everyone!

Christmas is A Comin'

Over Thanksgiving we felt thankful for all the friends of thereallylittlebookstore and hope that everyone had a lovely holiday!
On this infernal Friday, we're happy to offer you Holiday shopping without the risk of serious injury and have a wonderful selection of new titles.  Perfect presents for all the people you love (or need to buy gifts for), these books are Pious, Pork-based, Pinot-stained, and Porcupine themed.

The Bible in Pictures is a luscious book of illustrations by Lucas Cranach the elder c.1500, published by Taschen. Featuring 117 hand-colored woodcuts, each page of this volume is artfully esoteric.  Full-color and mostly full-page, this special volume is a jewel packed with luscious details.

All I Want for Christmas

Deborah Zemke's All I Want for Christmas is an
illustrated Christmas wish list from the Animal Kingdom. A whimsical stocking stuffer guaranteed to please the young and young-at-heart.

Please tell Santa that I'd like an all-bacon breakfast Christmas morning and Bacon, a love story to read while I munch.  Filled with bacon lore and tons of good recipes (see: bacon wrapped tater tots) I just hope Santa reads it before he puts it under the tree!

If you're like me, you'd probably prefer to host or pop in on a holiday party where you can leave claiming that you've only had one drink.  That's why we're into these XL Wine Glasses (big enough to hold a whole bottle).  Limited quantities available so snap up these bacchanalian buckets while they last!

Almost Back to School

Howdy Everyone,
Summer may be fading but at TheReallyLittleBookstore, things are just getting started. We've replenished many of our favorites books. Here are our recommendations:

Little guys will love
: Wind in the Willows, Prayer for a Child, Flat Stanley, and Someday.

The slightly less little will love: How to Nourish Your Inner Martyr, Mrs. Tependris, and Love Letters of Great Men.

Everyone loves: The jigsaw puzzles of Alice in Wonderland, Oz, and Pride and Prejudice.

There are some lovely new childrens books, my favorites Frog Girl and Storm Boy. Beautifully illustrated and charmingly written, these compelling picture books are bound to captivate the family.

After hearing Oprah's endorsement for the billionth time I finally broke down and got The Secret. No, I'm not getting a snuggie yet.
The Secret's positive message is time-tested and TRLBT-approved. It's an effortless read and is an excellent spirit-lifter/cheerleader in these oft-gloomy times. So it's in the store right next to Alexander Who Used to Be Rich Last Sunday... you understand.

Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking has arrived, as well as Brunch by Gale Gand. Everyone's gushing about Julie & Julia - if any cookbook could spark a cinematic rapport, it's this one.

If it's Francophilia you crave, we suggest you scoop up Parisian Hideaways and Paris Vintage Couture.

Fresh and Fabulous New Inventory!

The snowstorm brought boxes of new books, from the hilarious (and accurate) Today I Will Nourish My Inner Martyr: Affirmations for Cynics to the erudite tome, New Orleans 1867, a precise, pictorial inventory of the city done by early photographers.

Assouline has sent us a nostalgic and truly elegant book entitled High Society. With its glamorously intimate photographs of the well-bred and beautiful, it's certain to make any coffee table a touch more chic. Need something equally swank to sip? Look up the perfect recipe in The Cocktails of the Ritz Paris, a perennial favorite.

If you're craving a little scandal with your society lit, we highly recommend Riders, by Jilly Cooper. The U.K.'s number-one selling genre author, we discovered her delightfully trashy books while living in London and have been hooked ever since. Blue tales of the blue-blooded, this page-turner is a bit like Jackie Collins but less smutty, with white-hot heroes and enticingly venomous villains.
